Here are some of the testimonials and letters to Orit.
I love your new website.
I always think of your beautiful dancing and your love of the dance. It inspires all who are lucky enough to see your performance.
It was such a pleasure to watch you perform live in Orlando, Florida. I watch many YouTube videos of you and I love them but nothing compares to your live performance.
I always talk about you to my students. I tell them how the love of the dance shows in your face and every more you make. It lets us know what belly dancing is all about. Grace, Love, Agility, Beauty, Control, and everything else that makes the dance what it should be. I also tell them how you say not to always have our mouths closed. To open them with excitement, with feeling, so we don’t look like we are not enjoying the dance.
Thank you for being such an inspiration."
"Orit is one of my favorite performers, one of those rare dancers that combines both delicate femininity and fierce strength. She succeeds in being both classic and modern at the same time. I believe her to be one of the great dancers of our generation"
"I met Orit for the first time when she taught a workshop in the Netherlands a few years ago, and she immediately stole my heart. She is an inspiring teacher, a truly knowledgeable person and a generous artist, and a beautiful beautiful dancer to boot! Orit is one of my absolute favorite dancers and instructors for oriental dance, a true inspiration in every sense. I try to study with her as often as I can, traveling to her festival in Eilat in 2012 for the 3rd time. Meeting her has motivated me to study this dance form even more intensively, to perform with all my soul and to teach with all my heart"
"Orit, a short testimonial would not do justice to the extent of my gratitude to you. It goes way beyond the inspiration you provide with your magical musical interpretation; ability to convey emotions, your charisma, versatility, grace and fluidity, both on stage and in class. Over the past two years I got to know you better as a person. You throw a challenge to everyone around you with your totality and perfectionism. You support, guide, encourage and critique relentlessly and motivate to work harder, aim higher, overcome self-doubts and put yourself out there. You have been my biggest influence and inspiration since I started dancing and I feel extremely lucky and privileged to have you as my mentor. Thank you with all my heart!
"Orit is one of those dancers that capture the organic essence of Balady and Shaabi yet maintains an ethereal quality of grace of Orientale. The expressive freedom in her performances, her commitment in her movements and her generous knowledge as an instructor makes her a bridge between the Middle East and the rest of the world with the words, ability and passion to share."
"Orit came to Poland in 2007 for the first time and since then she is"the most wanted" Diva here. She became such great inspiration for many of us and every time I think about her openness, great heart and touchful approach I get this special appreciation feeling inside of me ...She shares all her knowledge, experience with pleasure and you can actually feel it.. She attracts students with her personal charm, great sense of humor and special attention to everyone. Orit-my "numer jeden":-) Kisses
"And there she is! My no 1!!!The queen! The best one!!!!The Goddess herself - Orit Maftsir!!!! ….after many years of watching tons of Orit’s videos on YouTube, completely captured by her dance, femininity and energy, I am going to her workshop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In love with tarab! With her first words about feelings, expressions and poetry of tarab music, I realized why she is my no 1! With the first seconds of “Ana fintizarak” she captured my heart forever! Mixed feelings of excitement, happiness, sadness, nostalgia during 2 hours of pure heaven….I will be forever grateful for the influence Orit had on my dance and my style…as well as for all the priceless advice she gave me…She is not only a unique dancer, but a dedicated teacher and the sweetest person!"
"So, I just finished the last of the Orit Maftsir workshops here in snowy Toronto, Canada. I just had to say wow! I knew Orit was a fine, expressive performer from her youtube clips, but I had no idea how great these workshops were going to be. I have been to 60 or 70 or so workshops from various renowned instructors and this one was one of the best. There was one major workshop and several smaller master classes on various subjects. I'm thinking to write a review for guilded serpent or something to talk about how great this weekend was, we'll see if I find time. In the meantime, I just wanted to let Bhuzzers know - if you have a chance to take from Orit, do it. It is so much more than just your usual workshop. She's very personable and entertaining, she gives you good content, great background information and great "secrets" (if you only knew the goodies I'm coming home with). She explains it all very well and she is a very generous instructor. There is so much more I can say, but it will take me too long. Just trust me, if you get the chance to study with Orit, go!"
"Orit's dance was an inspiration to me since I saw her video for the first time on the internet. I was lucky enough to meet her few years later in Berlin and took a class with her. I realized it is not only her passion for oriental dance that is inspirational but also her caring and supportive personality. There is so much to learn from her and I'm looking forward to take more classes"
"Orit on stage will make every audience member smile. Youcan't help it! A modern dancer with the soul of the golden era! And her workshops are nothing less. I was overwhelmed with her tarab class. It was n'tanother choreography, but the whole historical and cultural background, interpreting the classical music, what it means to dance tarab. And dancing and improvising with Orit in class is a great splash of energy and inspiration for any dancer, beginner or professional!"
"I can only say this about ORIT: I LOVE HER ! This past weekend we had the great chance to be again with her, before she "retires" for a maybe long time (let’s cross fingers it is not so long) traveling to Europe. It has been my second time with her,and indeed so magic and wonderful as the first time. I believe only the people who have been with her can understand what this woman means, the beauty she expires, the complete happiness you feel with her. I had already the chance to know other great teachers, but Orit is at a much higher level, there is no one like her. I have too many feelings now, since I don’t know when I will see her. I do know I will go and meet her anywhere in the world she will be, Israel or whatever. The only thing I don’t know is when. I think my friends "diositas" that came with me to Eindhoven have the same question: when will we see you again, Orit? I will soon put pictures of this fantastic weekend and will explain the trip, the workshops, the funny time we had, the show, the emotion of Orit seeing our special dance we prepared for her, etc. Now I can only say, once again, thanks Orit for being as you are and share it with all of us. Thanks for making us to feel so special every single second we were with you. ORIT, FOREVER ORIT."
"I love Bellydance and I wanted to thank you for the creativity, beauty and purity you brought into this wonderful form of art. Watching your videos, seeing you perform have always truly been a joy for me. Thank you ! Your most sincere fan"
"Ladies, I was one of the participants of Orit Workshops. She is my favorite dancer. I was amazed by her teaching, energy, and compassion. If ever she comes to your community, it is a must! Believe you me! It is my best workshop in 10 years, and no, I won't say the one I did before :))"
As a professional dancer, I've never ceased to deepen my work by attending more workshops as possible. Orit came three times to Paris, France, where I live, and of course i was there! it was a great opportunity to discover her style and her energy. I was particularly interested by the way she was playing with her arms, because arms are so important in our dance! congratulations Orit for your work and many kisses from your "macaron-friend" ;-)))
"The weekend with Orit was amazing! I went to 4 workshops and Orit was wonderful in each one of them. She gave EXCELLENT historical / cultural background, explained repeatedly that dance is not merely movements and illustrated this clearly. She was very dedicated (to the dance and to us students), relaxed and humorous. I loved how she combined freedom and proper interpretation (she didn't dance a choreography that was exactly the same each time, but she corrected students who weren't capturing the essence of the dance). This was really one of the best (no, THE best) workshop experiences I have ever had"
"The workshops with Orit were sooooo inspiring. It was amazing just to be in the same room as her and soak in her attitude, musicality and wonderful ease of movement. It wasn't so much about technique, but about meeting the music with your entire self and personality; really owning it. I was humbled by the fact that she saw my performance, but we spoke afterwards and she stressed to me how important it is to be brave enough to be yourself on the stage. This (and the amazing interpretation of Enta Omri on the first day which brought me to tears) was worth the price of admission for me"
"I really have to say that Orit is the MOST inspiring Dancer of this century. When I watch her I really feel as though I am seeing "HER" not some conjured persona that was created for the purpose. Whether that is true or not, I do not know. I see new information being created and innovations being presented every time I see a video of her. Sometimes I think that she might over complicate a series of phrases but I always remind myself of my own will to improve and innovate, to correct an over indulgence. Her sense of humor and how she delivers that is beyond my ability to describe. I have watched some famously "witty" dancers (Aunty Rocky for one) and Orit can and does communicate her jokes and frivolities with grace and silliness, a quality that so few dancers have today. Orit has the ability to reach out to her audience and bring them in giggling with joy. I have always strived for that in my own performances and I am, with out a doubt, a willing student of this dancer Orit."
"I would like to consider myself a good dancer and extremely discerning about how to spend money wisely when choosing who to take belly dance workshops from. Having done the popular Egyptian Stars workshops, I can say that having Orit as a teacher is more than value for money! How did I come across Orit? I was searching the internet in 2006, when I came across Orit's videos on her website and it was the first time ever, I was gob-smacked at her 'Mergence", her stage presence and charisma was so stirring and engaging I had goose-bumps on my skin as I shouted out at the top of my voice to my husband to come and watch this amazing dancer! Not long after that, I got in touch with Orit, to come to Auckland, New Zealand to do Advanced& Master workshops. I was amazed at her wide& unique vocabulary of dance movements and her ability to explain these movements were evident of an experienced teacher. I found Orit to be down to earth, warm-hearted, and generous to her workshop attendees as well as her adoring audiences. Her dances at our "Lotus of the Nile Show" touched the hearts of us all as her diverse and beautiful choreographies captured the hearts of the audience, of which many were Egyptians living in New Zealand. Orit has an immense and unique stage presence which fills even the biggest stages and her femininity, fluidity and ability to express such deep emotions in her dance makes her like the Egyptian Stars of the 1940s. Her dance style is classical with a modern twist, reflecting elements of balletic movements, and classical raks sharki movements, accenting with some of the most unique and cheeky Orit combinations! I will never forget her as being one of the most powerful influential teachers I have had the honor to learn from and dance with ! My only regret is that we live so far apart which prevents me attending more of her workshops and festivals. I would not hesitate to encourage anyone to take workshops with Orit, and for those audiences looking for entertainment, you will not be disappointed"
"When I met Orit Maftsir I did not know Oriental Dance could be like THAT! Orit brings elegance, creativity, feeling, theater, amazing technique and musicality together as one. Watching her dance is experiencing tarab. Whether in class or shining on stage, Orit is pure perfection"
"There are two accounts in my life where I can say my dance style had changed for the better. The first was studying in Cairo the second was taking workshops with Orit. I took workshops with Orit at Aziza's BirthdayBash in Orlando, Florida in 2008. It was her first time ever teaching in the states and I was incredibly excited to finally meet her after admiring her youtube videos and website. It was the most inspiring and influential workshops I've ever taken. Orit is very personable and has a lot of charisma! She's incredibly knowledgeable about the dance, the music, the history, and is willing to share her knowledge with others. I felt lucky to have gotten to know her over the weekend. She helped me appreciate Classical style and emote through my dance Thank you Orit"
