When it comes to performances, Orit's philosophy is very clear: "Dancing is for the people. It was not formed for the stage originally. It was elevated to the stage, but it started at the same level and on the same ground where everyone steps -- artists and audience alike. We should never forget that." This explains why, even on the most glorious stages in the world, she always finishes her last routine by coming off the stage, and dancing with the audience in the theater, as close to them as possible. She is connected to her audience, and dedicated to entertaining them with bellydancing like they have never seen before.

Since 2003, Orit has created many shows that involve live orchestras and group choreographies in different styles to tell the story of oriental dance as she sees it. She has kept to high standards of stage decoration, lighting, artistic programming, and costume design. She herself designs the graphics on the programs and posters for the events. High standards and originality have become a trademark of her excellence, and have raised the bar of bellydance performances everywhere.

Orit is the artistic manager of the Eilat festival, and she does the group choreography for the festival troupe every year. Her choreography is used by many teachers around the world, and performed on professional stages worldwide.

Here are a few stage shows she has created:

Nur El Amar (Moonlight) 2003

A fairytale about a bride-to-be who escapes on her wedding night to become a Cairo cabaret performer.

Kaharamana 2004

The story of the genie in the bottle. After granting three ladies their wishes, the genie (Orit) breaks out of her lamp and sets herself free. The opening scene was inspired by the Samia Gamal dance from the movie Afrita Hanem, where the genie character was named Kaharamana

Star of the East 2005

Orit performs this show with a live orchestra playing select Tarab songs and some folklore acts. It’s a live, classic Egyptian show that is still highly requested today.

El Fen 2006

This show was dedicated to the music of Muhamed Abdel Wahab. It features a live orchestra and ten dancers from her troupe. This was the first time a show like this was ever made for the round stage. In the middle of the show, Orit invited the audience to dance and party on the stage with her and the dancers!

Umm Kalthum and Me 2008

This show was created for the Storyteller Festival and was produced in different theaters in Israel as a small, intimate show. It was hosted by the celebrated author Eli Amir, who told the story of Umm Kalthum. Orit took her life and music to another level by illustrating immortal songs with her dance.

Orient Express 2010

This show was the biggest professional show ever staged in Israel, with up to 22 dancers in each troupe dance, and Orit’s famous homage to Mona Said, the Egyptian dancer who inspires her. The show started with a movie Orit edited, presenting some great moments of the Golden Era bellydancers, and emphasizing the grace, style, sensuality, and timeless beauty of their art. When the screen rose up, the first scene resembled an old movie. Then, the show became an Orient Express train taking the audience from the folkloric dance to the glamorous cabaret.

Eilat Festival Shows
